Short film/visitor film

The Zoo Haag welcomes visitors of all ages to a fun and wonderful experience featuring over 700 animals from 70 different species. In the newly built visitor center, guests can look forward to a 450 m² indoor playground as well as a cinema room showing a three-part film designed by us.

In a humorous story, a bear and a hedgehog—who both dream of becoming official rangers at Zoo Haag—guide the audience through the zoo and the Mostviertel region. Together, they join forces and eagerly practice for their desired ranger license. During a walk through the zoo, they share their knowledge about various animals. In doing so, they manage to impress the veterinarian so much with their facts that she praises them for being excellent zoo rangers.

Objectives

The client commissioned us to develop three films for the newly redesigned visitor center in the heart of the zoo. The focus is on two 3D-animated protagonists, Bruno the Bear and Iggy the Hedgehog, who take visitors on an entertaining journey through the zoo and the Mostviertel region.

In the first film, Bruno the Bear guides the audience through the zoo. While always on the lookout for his next snack, he provides fascinating insights into the park’s operations and special features. The second film is presented by Iggy the Hedgehog and is dedicated to the scenic, cultural, and touristic highlights of the Mostviertel. In the third part, the two characters finally meet by the lake inside the zoo to explore further facets of the park together.

Implementation

Following an intensive research phase and an on-site visit, we developed a concept that highlights the unique atmosphere of the zoo and the region. In addition to the animals themselves, a key focus was placed on the people keeping the zoo running, the daily routines in the park, and the regional highlights of the Mostviertel.

To convey this content in a lively and target-group-oriented way, it was embedded into an entertaining story featuring the 3D-animated characters Bruno the Bear and Iggy the Hedgehog. The films combine humorous and exciting storytelling moments with informative content, making them highly appealing to both children and adults.

The combination of high-quality live-action footage and seamlessly integrated 3D animations creates a dynamic presentation that blends information and entertainment in a truly special way.
