Opera/Visuals

Under the directorship of Dietmar Kerschbaum and Oliver Haas we designed and produced about 12 minutes of various visuals, film shots, and effect shots for a live projection of the opera Carmen at Castle Tabor’s stage design.

Length: ca. 12 Min.
Format: Full HD
Year: 2017

There were different tasks in this project. On the one hand, there was the animation of various still images, which a graphic artist created together with an artist for the stage design. We had to add wafts of mist, animate the artist’s sculptures or add flicker neon writing. The bigger task was to put a girl we filmed in front of a green screen into a time-lapse sequence and into a scenario appropriate set – including dust, fog, lightning, particle effects and more. We also had to dye the girl’s blonde hair red, so that at the end of the opera – according to Carmen’s actress – she could project herself onto the castle tower and finally dissolve.

Our Tasks:

  • Greenscreen shooting
  • Keying
  • Rotoscoping
  • Animation
  • Visual Effects
  • Mattepainting
  • Particleeffects
  • Rendering
